| relating to the creation of a maternal health care improvement | ||
| program to address maternal morbidity. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Chapter 34, Health and Safety Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Section 34.0155 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 34.0155. MATERNAL HEALTH CARE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM. | ||
| The task force shall develop or oversee the development of a program | ||
| to distribute maternal health care informational materials to | ||
| health care providers in this state to standardize treatment | ||
| protocols and improve the health care response for leading causes | ||
| of preventable death among pregnant and postpartum women, including | ||
| causes related to: | ||
| (1) cardiac health conditions; | ||
| (2) preeclampsia, eclampsia, and other hypertensive | ||
| disorders; and | ||
| (3) hemorrhage. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the | ||
| legislative session. | ||
