| relating to transitional child-care services in the Temporary | ||
| Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 31.012(c), Human Resources Code, is | ||
| amended to read as follows: | ||
| (c) A person who is the caretaker of a child with a physical | ||
| disability or mental, intellectual, or developmental disability | ||
| who requires the caretaker's presence is not required to | ||
| participate in a program under this section. A single person who is | ||
| the caretaker of a child is exempt until the caretaker's youngest | ||
| child at the time the caretaker first became eligible for | ||
| assistance reaches the age of one. Notwithstanding Section | ||

| Commission shall provide to a person who is exempt under this | ||
| subsection and who voluntarily participates in a program under | ||
| Subsection (a)(2) six months of transitional benefits in addition | ||
| to the applicable limit prescribed by Section 31.0065. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 31.0035, Human Resources Code, is | ||
| repealed. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
