relating to the required completion date of a report concerning an | ||
initial evaluation of a student for purposes of special education | ||
services. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 29.004, Education Code, | ||
is amended to read as follows: | ||
(a) A written report of a full individual and initial | ||
evaluation of a student for purposes of special education services | ||
shall be completed not later than the 60th school [ |
||
following the date on which the school district, in accordance with | ||
20 U.S.C. Section 1414(a), as amended, receives written consent for | ||
the evaluation, signed by the student's parent or legal guardian. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2013-2014 | ||
school year. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
