| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 212.028, Election Code, is amended by | ||
| amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (c) to read as | ||
| follows: | ||
| (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), a petition for an | ||
| initial recount must be submitted by 5 p.m. of the third business | ||

| (c) If the deadline for submitting a petition for an initial | ||
| recount falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal state holiday, the | ||

| SECTION 2. Section 212.083, Election Code, is amended to | ||
| read as follows: | ||
