district of parental complaints concerning student participation | ||
in extracurricular activities. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 26.011, Education Code, is amended to | ||
read as follows: | ||
Sec. 26.011. COMPLAINTS. (a) The board of trustees of each | ||
school district shall adopt a grievance procedure under which the | ||
board shall address each complaint that the board receives | ||
concerning violation of a right guaranteed by this chapter. | ||
(b) The board of trustees of a school district is not | ||
required by Subsection (a) or Section 11.1511(b)(13) to address a | ||
complaint that the board receives concerning a student's | ||
participation in an extracurricular activity that does not involve | ||
a violation of a right guaranteed by this chapter. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016 | ||
school year. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
