| relating to the eligibility of an individual to serve on the board | ||
| of directors of certain appraisal districts. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 6.03, Tax Code, is amended by adding | ||
| Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: | ||
| (a-1) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), an individual is | ||
| ineligible to serve on the board of directors of an appraisal | ||
| district established in a county with a population of more than | ||
| 500,000 if the individual is an elected member of the governing body | ||
| of a taxing unit that participates in the district. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 6.03(a-1), Tax Code, as added by this | ||
| Act, does not affect the right of a person serving on the board of | ||
| directors of an appraisal district to which that section applies on | ||
| the effective date of this Act to complete that person's term of | ||
| service on the board. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2024. | ||
