| Services to notify certain organizations regarding the adoption of | ||
| certain children. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 264, Family Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 264.208 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 264.208. NOTIFICATION OF ADOPTION TO CERTAIN ENTITIES. | ||
| (a) In this section, "faith-based organization" has the meaning | ||
| assigned by Section 264.113(a). | ||
| (b) If the department has entered into a memorandum of | ||
| understanding with a faith-based organization that authorizes the | ||
| organization to share information about children in the | ||
| department's conservatorship who are available for adoption, the | ||
| department shall notify the faith-based organization when a child | ||
| whose information has been shared with the organization is adopted. | ||
| (c) The department shall provide the notice required by | ||
| Subsection (b) not later than the end of the fifth business day | ||
| after the date the adoption order is rendered. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
