| relating to elections for the authorization of certain political | ||
| subdivisions to issue bonds. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 41, Election Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 41.0051 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 41.0051. ELECTION TO ISSUE BONDS. Notwithstanding any | ||
| other law, an election for the issuance of bonds by a political | ||
| subdivision other than a municipal utility district shall be held | ||
| on the November uniform election date. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 52.095, Election Code, is amended to | ||
| read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 52.095. PROPOSITIONS. (a) Except as otherwise | ||
| provided by law, the authority ordering an election in which more | ||
| than one measure is to be voted on shall determine the order in | ||
| which the propositions are to appear on the ballot. | ||
| (b) A proposition on the issuance of bonds by a political | ||
| subdivision other than a municipal utility district must be placed | ||
| before all parties, offices, names, and other propositions on the | ||
| ballot. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act applies only to an election ordered on | ||
| or after the effective date of this Act. An election ordered before | ||
| the effective date of this Act is governed by the law as it existed | ||
| immediately before the effective date of this Act, and that law is | ||
| continued in effect for that purpose. | ||
| SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
