relating to the confidentiality of certain information regarding | ||
state election inspectors. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Sections 34.001(a) and (c), Election Code, are | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
(a) The secretary of state may appoint one or more state | ||
inspectors for an election. The appointment is, until the day after | ||
election day, confidential and not available for public inspection. | ||
(c) A request under Subsection (b) must be received by the | ||
secretary of state not later than the fourth regular business day | ||
before the date of the election for which the inspectors are | ||
requested. The request is, until the day after election day, | ||
confidential and not available for public inspection [ |

SECTION 2. Chapter 34, Election Code, is amended by adding | ||
Section 34.006 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 34.006. PLACES INSPECTED CONFIDENTIAL. Information | ||
held by the secretary of state that indicates the place a state | ||
inspector has been appointed to inspect is, during the period | ||
beginning on the day the state inspector is appointed and ending on | ||
the day after election day, confidential and not available for | ||
public inspection. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
