A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to professional development requirements for teachers of
gifted and talented students.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter J, Chapter 21, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 21.460 to read as follows:
Sec. 21.460. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TEACHERS OF
GIFTED AND TALENTED STUDENTS. A teacher who provides instruction
or services as part of a school's gifted and talented program shall
complete six hours of professional development in gifted education
specific to the subject in which the teacher provides instruction
every five years.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
