| relating to immunity from certain disciplinary proceedings for a | ||
| teacher's justified use of physical force. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 22.0512(b), Education Code, is amended | ||
| to read as follows: | ||
| (b) In this section, "disciplinary proceeding" means: | ||
| (1) an action brought by the school district employing | ||
| a professional employee of a school district to discharge or | ||
| suspend the employee or terminate or not renew the employee's term | ||
| contract; or | ||
| (2) an action brought by the State Board for Educator | ||
| Certification [ |

| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
