| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 62.014, Parks and Wildlife Code, is | ||
| amended by amending Subsection (n) to read as follows: | ||
| (n) The following persons are exempt from any requirement to | ||
| complete [ |
||
| under this section: | ||
| (1) an honorably discharged veteran of the United | ||
| States armed forces[ |
||
| [ |
||
| United States armed [ |
||
| (2) a person who is on active duty or has previously | ||
| served as a member of the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air | ||
| National Guard, or the Texas State Guard; or | ||
| (3) a person who is serving or has previously served as | ||
| a peace officer described by Subdivision (1), (2), (3), or (4), | ||
| Article 2.12, Code of Criminal Procedure[ |

| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
