| municipal officers and employees. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Chapter 171, Local Government Code, is amended | ||
| by adding Section 171.008 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 171.008. EMPLOYMENT FOR CERTAIN FORMER COUNTY OR | ||
| MUNICIPAL OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES RESTRICTED. (a) Except as | ||
| provided by Subsection (b), a former county or municipal officer or | ||
| employee who during the period of county or municipal service or | ||
| employment participated on behalf of the county or municipality in | ||
| a contract negotiation or procurement involving a person may not | ||
| accept employment from that person before the second anniversary of | ||
| the date the contract is signed or the procurement is terminated or | ||
| withdrawn. | ||
| (b) The governing body of a county or municipality may, on | ||
| an individual basis, waive the applicability of the prohibition | ||
| under Subsection (a) for a former county or municipal officer or | ||
| employee who submits to the governing body an application for a | ||
| waiver from the prohibition in the form and manner the governing | ||
| body requires. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 171.008, Local Government Code, as added | ||
| by this Act, applies only to a county or municipal officer or | ||
| employee whose service or employment with a county or municipality | ||
| ceases on or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | ||
