coordinator for the Department of Family and Protective Services. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code, | ||
is amended by adding Section 40.0327 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 40.0327. NONPROFIT AGENCY SERVICES COORDINATOR. (a) | ||
The department shall designate an employee of the department as the | ||
nonprofit agency services coordinator to serve as a liaison between | ||
the department and nonprofit agencies who provide assistance to | ||
families in crisis. | ||
(b) The nonprofit agency services coordinator shall assist | ||
nonprofit agencies in the provision of services and resources to | ||
families in crisis, including: | ||
(1) temporary out-of-home placement of a child with a | ||
caregiver; | ||
(2) mentoring programs, transportation, and | ||
babysitting services and providing meals and other support | ||
services; | ||
(3) furniture, clothing, and other household items; | ||
(4) parenting education training; and | ||
(5) mentoring programs for young adults aging out of | ||
foster care. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
