| coordinator for the Department of Family and Protective Services. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code, | ||
| is amended by adding Section 40.0327 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 40.0327. NONPROFIT AGENCY SERVICES COORDINATOR. (a) | ||
| The department shall designate an employee of the department as the | ||
| nonprofit agency services coordinator to serve as a liaison between | ||
| the department and nonprofit agencies who provide assistance to | ||
| families in crisis. | ||
| (b) The nonprofit agency services coordinator shall assist | ||
| nonprofit agencies in the provision of services and resources to | ||
| families in crisis, including: | ||
| (1) temporary out-of-home placement of a child with a | ||
| caregiver; | ||
| (2) mentoring programs, transportation, and | ||
| babysitting services and providing meals and other support | ||
| services; | ||
| (3) furniture, clothing, and other household items; | ||
| (4) parenting education training; and | ||
| (5) mentoring programs for young adults aging out of | ||
| foster care. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
