| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 42.031(a), Election Code, is amended to | ||
| read as follows: | ||
| (a) During March or April of each even-numbered | ||

| whether the county election precincts comply with Sections 42.005, | ||
| 42.006, and 42.007. [ |
||
| Before May 1 of the year in which the determination is made, the | ||
| commissioners court shall order the boundary changes necessary for | ||
| compliance. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 42.033(a), Election Code, is amended to | ||
| read as follows: | ||
| (a) A change in a county election precinct boundary takes | ||
| effect on the first day of the first odd-numbered [ |

| ordered. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the | ||
| last day of the legislative session. | ||
