| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 403, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 403.031 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 403.031. OBESITY AND WELLNESS INFORMATION PORTAL. (a) | ||
| The comptroller shall establish and maintain an obesity and | ||
| wellness information portal on the comptroller's Internet website | ||
| to be used by children, parents, schools, businesses, state | ||
| agencies, and the general public. | ||
| (b) The portal must: | ||
| (1) serve as a clearinghouse for information relating | ||
| to obesity and wellness; and | ||
| (2) provide resources relating to obesity and | ||
| wellness. | ||
| (c) The comptroller may consult with the Health and Human | ||
| Services Commission and the Department of State Health Services in | ||
| establishing the content for the portal. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
