A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to creating a portal on the comptroller's Internet website
related to obesity and wellness.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 403, Government Code, is
amended by adding Section 403.031 to read as follows:
Sec. 403.031. OBESITY AND WELLNESS INFORMATION PORTAL. (a)
The comptroller shall establish and maintain an obesity and
wellness information portal on the comptroller's Internet website
to be used by children, parents, schools, businesses, state
agencies, and the general public.
(b) The portal must:
(1) serve as a clearinghouse for information relating
to obesity and wellness; and
(2) provide resources relating to obesity and
wellness.
(c) The comptroller may consult with the Health and Human
Services Commission and the Department of State Health Services in
establishing the content for the portal.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
