relating to requiring a living wage for those that do business with | ||
the state. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 403, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 403.0307 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 403.0306. LIVING WAGE REQUIRED. (a) The comptroller | ||
by rule shall require each of the following entities to adopt a | ||
living wage policy: | ||
(1) state agencies; | ||
(2) political subdivisions of this state; and | ||
(3) vendors and other contractors of a state agency. | ||
(b) The living wage policy shall require an entity to pay to | ||
each employee not less than the greater of: | ||
(1) $10.10 an hour; or | ||
(2) the federal minimum wage under Section 6, Fair | ||
Labor Standards Act of 1938 (29 U.S.C. Section 206). |
