| relating to the eligibility of school bus drivers and cafeteria | ||
| workers for unemployment compensation benefits. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 207.041, Labor Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: | ||
| (b-1) Subsection (b) does not apply to an individual if the | ||
| services performed by the individual for an educational institution | ||
| consist only of: | ||
| (1) driving a school bus transporting students to and | ||
| from school or a school-sponsored or school-related activity; or | ||
| (2) working as a cafeteria worker. | ||
| SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
| to a claim for unemployment compensation benefits filed with the | ||
| Texas Workforce Commission on or after the effective date of this | ||
| Act. A claim filed before the effective date of this Act is | ||
| governed by the law in effect on the date the claim was filed, and | ||
| the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | ||
