| relating to the renewal of a license to carry a handgun. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 411.185(a), Government Code, is amended | ||
| to read as follows: | ||
| (a) To renew a license, a license holder must, on or before | ||
| the first anniversary of the date the license expires, submit to the | ||
| department by mail or, in accordance with the procedure adopted | ||
| under Subsection (f), on the Internet: | ||
| (1) a renewal application on a form provided by the | ||
| department; | ||
| (2) payment of a nonrefundable renewal fee of $40; and | ||
| (3) the informational form described by Subsection (c) | ||
| signed or electronically acknowledged by the applicant. | ||
| SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a | ||
| handgun license that expires before, on, or after the effective | ||
| date of this Act. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the | ||
| legislative session. | ||
