| relating to the confidentiality of certain information held by the | ||
| Texas Education Agency. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 552, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 552.1178 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 552.1178. CONFIDENTIALITY OF CERTAIN INFORMATION | ||
| MAINTAINED BY TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY. (a) In this section, | ||
| "educator" has the meaning assigned by Section 5.001, Education | ||
| Code. | ||
| (b) Information maintained by the Texas Education Agency | ||
| that relates to the home address, home telephone number, personal | ||
| cell phone number, personal e-mail address, driver's license | ||
| number, emergency contact information, date of birth, or social | ||
| security number of an educator, or that reveals whether an educator | ||
| has family members, is confidential and excepted from the | ||
| requirements of Section 552.021. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
