relating to the creation of an additional judicial district | ||
composed of Brazos County and the duties of the district attorney | ||
for the 85th Judicial District in Brazos County. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 24.6007 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 24.6007. 463RD JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZOS COUNTY). (a) | ||
The 463rd Judicial District is composed of Brazos County. | ||
(b) The 463rd District Court has concurrent jurisdiction | ||
with the statutory county courts of Brazos County in misdemeanor | ||
cases as well as the jurisdiction prescribed by general law for | ||
district courts. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 43.143(a), Government Code, is amended | ||
to read as follows: | ||
(a) The voters of the 85th Judicial District elect a | ||
district attorney who represents the state in the district courts | ||
having jurisdiction in that county. | ||
SECTION 3. The 463rd Judicial District is created on the | ||
effective date of this Act. | ||
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
