| signs. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 544.012, Transportation Code, is amended | ||
| by amending Subsection (c) and adding Subsection (c-1) to read as | ||
| follows: | ||
| (c) The municipality shall install signs along each roadway | ||
| that leads to an intersection at which a photographic traffic | ||
| monitoring system is in active use. The signs must be at least 100 | ||
| feet from the intersection or located according to standards | ||
| established in the manual adopted by the Texas Transportation | ||
| Commission under Section 544.001, be easily readable to any | ||
| operator approaching the intersection, and clearly indicate: | ||
| (1) the presence of a photographic traffic monitoring | ||
| system that records violations that may result in the issuance of a | ||
| notice of violation and the imposition of a monetary penalty; and | ||
| (2) the range of the dollar amounts of the monetary | ||
| penalties that may be imposed for a violation recorded by a | ||
| photographic traffic monitoring system. | ||
| (c-1) A municipality is exempt from the requirements of | ||
| Subsection (c)(2) if before September 1, 2019, the municipality | ||
| installed a sign: | ||
| (1) along each roadway leading to an intersection at | ||
| which a photographic traffic monitoring system is in active use; | ||
| and | ||
| (2) indicating the amount of a monetary penalty that | ||
| may be imposed for a violation recorded by the system. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
