Bill Title: Relating to the eligibility of certain counties to participate in the rural sheriff's office salary assistance grant program and the rural prosecutor's office salary assistance grant program.

Amend HB 503 (house committee report) as follows:

(1)  On page 2, line 6, strike "Section 130.913(d), Local Government Code, is" and substitute "Sections 130.913(d) and (e), Local Government Code, are".

(2)  On page 2, between lines 19 and 20, insert the following:

(e)  A prosecutor's office that is awarded a grant shall use or authorize the use of the grant money only:

(1)  to increase the salary of an assistant attorney, an investigator, a paralegal, or a victim assistance coordinator employed at the office; or

(2)  to hire additional staff for the office.
