A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE September 17-23, 2024, as "Constitution Week" IN SOUTH CAROLINA.

 

Whereas, the constitution of the United States of America, the guardian of our liberties, embodies the principles of limited government in a republic dedicated to rule by law; and

 

Whereas, September 17, 2024, marks the two hundred thirty-seventh anniversary of the framing of the constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; and

 

Whereas, is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this magnificent document and its memorable anniversary, and to the patriotic celebrations which will commemorate it; and

 

Whereas, Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the president of the United States of America designating September 17-23 as Constitution Week; and

 

Whereas, the constitution of the United States of America is one of the most important documents in history; and

 

Whereas, the Daughters of the American Revolution work each year to promote the ideals of the constitution and highlight Constitution Week through their public education efforts in schools, community centers, and historical societies to remind the public of the importance of this founding document.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize September 17-23, 2024 as "Constitution Week" in South Carolina.
