A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND MRS. LINDA JONES SULLIVAN UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AFTER MORE THAN THIRTY-THREE YEARS OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO THE FAMILY COURT OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AS WELL AS NINE ADDITIONAL YEARS OF FINE SERVICE WITH THE GREENVILLE COUNTY JUVENILE JUSTICE DIVISION AND THE LEGAL SERVICES AGENCY OF WESTERN CAROLINA, INC., AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, it is altogether fitting that the members of the South Carolina Senate should pause in their deliberations to honor Mrs. Linda Jones Sullivan for her significant contributions to the Family Court System in the State of South Carolina; and
Whereas, Mrs. Sullivan's career has been a long and worthy one. She served for more than four years as a legal secretary with the Greenville Division of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice; and
Whereas, having accepted a new position, she took up her duties in 1977 as judicial assistant to Greenville Resident Family Court Judge Willie T. Smith, Sr., under the Unified Court System of South Carolina. She served in that post with distinction for over fourteen years; and
Whereas, she served with distinction the legal needs of the poor as an assistant to the director of Legal Services of Western Carolina, Inc., from 1991 to 1996; and
Whereas, from 1996 to 2014, she gave exemplary service as judicial assistant to retired Greenville Resident Family Court Judge Robert N. Jenkins, Sr., under the Unified Court System of South Carolina; and
Whereas, for the past year, Linda Sullivan has served with excellence the current occupant of Seat #5, Greenville County Family Court, the Honorable Tarita Dunbar; and
Whereas, for more than forty-two years, whether as a legal secretary, administrative assistant, or judicial assistant, she has diligently maintained the highest competency level in these positions by participating in continuing education through the South Carolina Legal Secretary Association and allied organizations; and
Whereas, at home, Linda and her husband, Mr. Ezell Sullivan, are the proud parents of LaTarsha Sullivan, Nanyumka Bennon, and Marques Sullivan, as well as the delighted grandparents of Jakeya Bennon; and
Whereas, to recognize Mrs. Sullivan for her many years of service to the State of South Carolina, her colleagues will host a retirement celebration in her honor on November 7, 2015, in Greenville; and
Whereas, the Senate, grateful for the legacy of consistent commitment and excellence Mrs. Sullivan has bestowed on the people of this great State, takes great pleasure in wishing her well as she enters retirement and trusts she will find much enjoyment in the more leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and commend Mrs. Linda Jones Sullivan upon the occasion of her retirement after more than thirty-three years of exemplary service to the Family Court of the State of South Carolina, as well as nine additional years of fine service with the Greenville County Juvenile Justice Division and the Legal Services Agency of Western Carolina, Inc., and wish her continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Mrs. Linda Jones Sullivan.
