THE COMMITTEE ON INVITATION AND MEMORIAL RESOLUTIONS

To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (S. 735) to request that the Department of Transportation name the portion of United States Highway 221 in the City of Chesnee from its intersection with Manning Street to its intersection with, etc., respectfully

REPORT:

That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass:

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME THE PORTION OF UNITED STATES HIGHWAY 221 IN THE CITY OF CHESNEE FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH MANNING STREET TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH GREENWOOD STREET "MAYOR CLIFF EDWARDS HIGHWAY" AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS ALONG THIS HIGHWAY THAT CONTAIN THE WORDS "MAYOR CLIFF EDWARDS HIGHWAY".

Whereas, the Honorable Cliff Edwards served as Mayor of the City of Chesnee for thirty-eight years and was successful in achieving many accomplishments for the city during his tenure; and

Whereas it would be fitting and proper to recognize Mayor Edwards' accomplishments by naming a portion of United States Highway 221 in his honor. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly request that the Department of Transportation name the portion of United States Highway 221 in the City of Chesnee from its intersection with Manning Street to its intersection with Greenwood Street "Mayor Cliff Edwards Highway" and erect appropriate markers or signs along this highway that contain the words "Mayor Cliff Edwards Highway".

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
