A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR CLIFFORD GAMBLE UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER FORTY-ONE YEARS OF MERITORIOUS SERVICE IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, it is altogether fitting and proper that the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina should pause in their deliberations to express their gratitude to Command Sergeant Major Clifford Gamble for his exemplary military career; and
Whereas, having officially retired on March 5, 2015, after more than four decades of outstanding active and reserve duty, Command Sergeant Major Gamble will be honored at a retirement banquet on Saturday, March 28, 2015; and
Whereas, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from Limestone College and an Associate of Arts from Williamsburg Technical College; and
Whereas, in 1974, Clifford Gamble started his career at Fort Jackson and then served at his first active duty station with the 598th Light Maintenance Company at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he served as a small arms repairman for three years; and
Whereas, subsequently, he was assigned to the 132nd Military Police Company in South Carolina; 108th Training Command at Fort Jackson; 3287th USARF School at Fort Jackson; 2/345th Infantry Battalion at Fort Jackson; 1st Battalion, 311th Infantry Battalion at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; l57th Infantry Brigade at Fort Jackson; and
Whereas, Command Sergeant Major Gamble has performed duties as Senior Drill Sergeant, Senior NCOES Instructor, Senior Military Police Instructor, NCOIC Military Police Team, Brigade Operations Sergeant Major, and Battalion Command Sergeant Major; and
Whereas, Command Sergeant Major Gamble's military education includes United States Sergeant Major Academy, ANCOC, BNCOC, PLDC, Drill Sergeant School, and various military police courses; and
Whereas, his many military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters (OLC), ARCOM with Three OLC, AAM with Four OLC, Army Good Conduct, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with Four OLC, National Defense Service Medal with Three OLC, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (4th Award), and the Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Medal; and
Whereas, Command Sergeant Major Gamble served the citizens of Greeleyville with distinction as Chief of Police until his retirement; and
Whereas, together with his beloved wife of forty years, Janice M. Gamble, he reared four fine children; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are grateful for the years of unparalleled dedication that Clifford Gamble has devoted to serving the citizens of our nation and of the Palmetto State and wish him many years of enjoyment in his well-earned retirement. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Command Sergeant Major Clifford Gamble, upon the occasion of his retirement after forty-one years of meritorious service in the United States Army, and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Command Sergeant Major Clifford Gamble.
