A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE DR. HERBERT BAILEY, JR., ON THE OCCASION OF HIS ELEVATION TO THE OFFICE OF BISHOP AND TO WISH HIM MANY YEARS OF TRANSFORMING LIVES AND IMPACTING FUTURE GENERATIONS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Dr. Herbert Bailey, Jr., will be elevated to the office of Bishop at a Service of Episcopal Consecration and Installation on Saturday, September 8, 2018; and

Whereas, Bishop-Designate Herbert Bailey, Jr., originally from Jersey City, NJ, is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Right Direction Church International (RDCI), with three locations in Columbia, Orangeburg, and Florence, SC. RDCI is a progressive, rapidly growing, nondenominational ministry that has grown from ten to over twenty-five hundred members since its inception in April of 1996; and

Whereas, Bishop-Designate Bailey has been preaching and teaching the Word of God since age twelve. Prior to becoming the Pastor of Right Direction Church International, he served for ten years as an assistant pastor in Portland, ME, and Tulsa, OK; and

Whereas, he holds a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from Upsala College, East Orange, NJ, pursued a Masters of Public Administration at Rutgers University of New Jersey and a Masters of Organizational Leadership at Regent University, Virginia Beach, VA. Bishop-Designate Bailey was also honored with a Doctorate of Divinity degree from St. Thomas Christian College of Jacksonville, FL; and

Whereas, under his direction, RDCI has sponsored the Compass Community Development Corporation, which provides transitional housing for men and women, clothing and interviewing skills for women in need who are entering into the workforce, a food pantry, and a community learning center. Bishop-Designate Bailey has also initiated mission efforts in Ghana, West Africa through targeted medical missions. He serves as overseer of the RDCI Fellowship, an organization of pastors and churches who either see him as a spiritual father or mentor; and

Whereas, he and his wife of thirty-three years, co-pastor, Dr. Marcia L. Bailey, have four adult children and two grandchildren. His preaching and teaching ministry brings forth a message of faith and whole-life prosperity. His ministry can be seen and heard by radio, television, and through worldwide streaming at www.rightdirection.info; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to honor Dr. Herbert Bailey, Jr., on his elevation to the office of Bishop and to bid him Godspeed as he begins a new chapter of his life. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Dr. Herbert Bailey, Jr., on the occasion of his elevation to the office of Bishop and wish him many years of transforming lives and impacting future generation.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Dr. Herbert Bailey, Jr.
