A house RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF Jametta "Lynn" Brisbane-Hamilton OF Charleston COUNTY AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER LOVING FAMILY AND HER MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives was saddened to learn of the death of Jametta "Lynn" Brisbane-Hamilton, just days before her sixty-second birthday on Saturday, January 27, 2024; and

Whereas, born on January 30, 1962, she was the daughter the late William and Nancy Brisbane and was reared in their loving family on James Island, the youngest of five children; and

Whereas, a beautiful child with exceptional intelligence, Jametta Brisbane received her education in the Charleston County Public School System, and during her early adolescent years, she took advanced courses in school and showcased her exceptional writing and speaking skills.   She went on to pursue a nursing degree in college; and

Whereas, a woman of immense dedication and hard work, she often held two or three jobs, not driven by financial gain, but because of her passion for what she did.  Nursing was her calling, and she tirelessly served others, nurturing them back to health throughout her forty-year career: and

Whereas, Ms. Brisbane-Hamilton's commitment to her patients led her to work willingly on weekends and shifts that others avoided.  She understood the struggles that patients faced during weekends and volunteered her time to provide the care and compassion they needed; and

Whereas, on November 18, 2023, she experienced the devastating loss of her two beloved sons, Earl and James Hamilton, who were passengers in a tragic vehicular accident caused by a driver under the influence; and

Whereas, Ms. Brisbane-Hamilton is remembered as a remarkable sister, a beautiful daughter, a wonderful mother, and an incredible friend and, above all as a devoted servant of God, who faithfully carried out her calling; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the life and legacy of Lynn Brisbane-Hamilton and for the example of selfless service and unwavering devotion she set for all those whose lives she touched, healed, and loved.  Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Jametta "Lynn" Brisbane-Hamilton, of Charleston County and extend their deepest sympathy to her large and loving family and her many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jametta "Lynn" Brisbane-Hamilton.
