A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE KEVIN CROSBY, HEAD FOOTBALL COACH FOR BAMBERG-EHRHARDT HIGH SCHOOL, ON BEING NAMED HEAD COACH FOR THE 2016 SEMPER FIDELIS ALL-AMERICAN BOWL'S EAST TEAM AND FOR LEADING HIS TEAM TO A 28-13 VICTORY OVER THE WEST.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is delighted to learn that Kevin Crosby, head football coach for Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School, was selected as 2016 head coach for the 2016 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl's East Team and led his team to a decisive 28-13 victory over the West; and
Whereas, the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, the nation's premiere high school football camp series and bowl game, isn't just a collection of America's finest high school football talent. It's also a collection of some of the best the nation has to offer in character, leadership, and commitment. Presented by the United States Marine Corps, the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl taps players from around the country based on their performances on the field, as well as their dedication to serving as leaders, to maintaining a high level of character, and to serving their team and community with honor, courage, and commitment, the three core values of the Marine Corps. Semper Fidelis All-Americans aren't just football players; they're also examples; and
Whereas, as a veteran high school coach of twenty years' standing, Kevin Crosby has coached football, basketball, track, and softball. In 2008, he became head football coach at his alma mater and was the first African-American head football coach at Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School. His record is 84-19; and
Whereas, leading his East team to victory as a head coach for the 2016 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl was by no means Kevin Crosby's first significant accomplishment. Coach Crosby has led his Bamberg-Ehrhardt team to eight consecutive playoff berths, including two state Class A runner-up appearances. He has served as an assistant coach for three prestigious All-American games, including the 2013 North-South All-Star Game, 2014 ESPN Under Armour All-American Bowl, and 2015 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. Further, under his leadership as a defensive-position coach, he assisted two athletes (Ricky Sapp and Daquan Bowers) in their journey to acceptance by the NFL. His leadership as a head coach enabled one athlete (Aaron "A.J." Cann) in that same journey. As head coach, Kevin Crosby also has overseen the signing of eighteen student-athlete football players with Division I universities; and
Whereas, in addition, when he was a basketball coach in 2008, Kevin Crosby took the Bamberg-Ehrhardt varsity basketball team to the Class A Lower State Championship for the first time since 1973. Coach Crosby also had the pleasure of seeing one of his athletes (Eric Buckner) play basketball overseas for Turk Telekom in Turkey; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, appreciative of Kevin Crosby's gifts as both football coach and exemplar to his team, take great pleasure in recognizing him on this, his latest accolade, the coveted honor of serving as a head coach for the 2016 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Kevin Crosby, head football coach for Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School, on being named head coach for the 2016 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl's East T eam and for leading his team to a 28-13 victory over the West.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Coach Kevin Crosby.
