A house RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE Pelion Elementary School archery TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN EXTRAORDINARY SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2023 NASP/IBO Outdoor 3D World Challenge CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the Pelion Elementary School archery team of Lexington County won first place at the 2023 NASP/IBO (National Archery in the Schools Program/International Bowhunters Organization) Outdoor 3D World Challenge held at the Cacapon Resort State Park in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, on August 9 to August 11, 2023; and

 

Whereas, to the delight of their exuberant fans, the Pelion Elementary archers defeated a competitive field of comers to capture their second consecutive title of the NASP/IBO Outdoor 3D World Challenge; and

 

Whereas, the Pelion archers had a team score of 1623 to win first place in the 3 Star Challenge which is the combined score of NASP/IBO National 3D, NASP/IBO Open Championship 3D, and the NASP/IBO Outdoor World 3D; and

 

Whereas, the Pelion archers included Connor Corley who scored 260; Hunter Dawson who scored 267 for an individual award and placed fifth in the 3 Star Challenge for Elementary Boys; Claire Hartley who scored 259; Paisley Hinkle who scored 268; Aubrey Joy who scored 285 and placed first in the Elementary School Female for the NASP/IBO Outdoor World 3D Challenge and third in the 3 Star Challenge for Elementary Girls; Bentley Massey who scored 254; Paisley Montgomery who scored 275 and placed fifth in the Elementary School Female for the NASP/IBO Outdoor World 3D Challenge; Gracie Mosteller who scored 254; and Delilah Williams who scored 268; and

 

Whereas, in a sport that requires precision and strength, Head Coach Nicole Shumpert and her skilled assistant coaches, Cassie Boatwright and David Hinkle, capitalized on their own athletic experience and passion to forge a championship-caliber team and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable throughout life; and

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives values the pride and recognition that the Pelion archers have brought to their school and their community, and the members look to following the continued achievements in the days ahead.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Pelion Elementary School archery team, coaches, and school officials for an extraordinary season and congratulate them for winning the 2023 NASP/IBO Outdoor 3D World Challenge Championship title.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Debbie Poole and Coach Nicole Shumpert.
