A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO THANK ROBERT M. "MIKE" HAMMOND OF ORANGEBURG COUNTY FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS CHAIR OF THE LOWCOUNTRY CITIZENS COMMITTEE ON JUDICIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, aware that this great State could not carry out its manifold duties without the assistance of numerous citizens who selflessly serve, the South Carolina General Assembly is grateful for the years of service Robert M. "Mike" Hammond has given to the Palmetto State as the Chair of its Lowcountry Citizens Committee on Judicial Qualifications since 1997; and

Whereas, in preparation for his long and distinguished career, Mr. Hammond earned a Bachelor of Science at Armstrong Atlantic University and a Masters of Criminal Justice at the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, over the years, he has served in various capacities, including Instructor, Director, and Academic Advisor of Associate in Arts Program in Criminal Justice at Augusta College, as well as served in the following capacities at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College: Instructor of Law and Criminal Justice; Department Chairman (Criminal Justice); Division Chairman, Arts and Sciences/Public Service/General Education Division, Director of Distance Learning; and Project Coordinator for the Community of Higher Education Council; and currently serves as Associate Vice President for Administration, Director of Distance Learning, and Project Coordinator for the Community Higher Education Council, Project Coordinator for the Teacher Quality Enhancement Partnership Grant, and University Transfer Officer; and

Whereas, in service to his community, Mr. Hammond is and has been a member of the South Carolina Technical College System OnLine Management Team since 2000; a member of the South Carolina Technical College System Distance Education Peer Group since 1999; a member of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Technical College Advisory Board since 1992; a founding member of the S.C. Leadership Congress where he has been a member since 1998; a member of the League of Innovation since 1997; a member of the American Association of Community Colleges since 1996; an editor and reporter for the S.C. Technical Education Association since 1994; a member of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences since 1976; the President of the S.C. Technical Education Association from 1992-1993; and has served as a board member of the United Way, from 2004-2010; and

Whereas, in 1997, Mr. Hammond was appointed to serve on the Lowcountry Citizens Committee on Judicial Qualifications, bringing with him his extensive expertise, to the great benefit of the Committee; and

Whereas, married to Debbie Hammond, he is the proud father of two children, Trisha Phillips; and Scott Hammond; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, grateful for Mr. Robert M. "Mike" Hammonds's committed labors for the Palmetto State, extend their thanks for his years of service as Chair of the Lowcountry Citizens Committee on Judicial Qualifications and, on behalf of all South Carolinians, wish him well as he takes on new challenges in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, thank Mr. Robert M. "Mike" Hammond of Orangeburg County for his many years of dedicated service as Chair of the Lowcountry Citizens Committee on Judicial Qualifications and wish him much success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Mr. Hammond.
