A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR ANN BOWERS SANDERS, UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT, COMMEND HER FOR HER MANY YEARS OF FAITHFUL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND TO THE STATE, AND TO WISH HER MUCH HAPPINESS IN HER WELL-EARNED RETIREMENT.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Ann Bowers Sanders will begin a well-deserved retirement on July 14, 2011; and
Whereas, Ann has devoted her professional career to the service of this great State having worked for the State for a total of over thirty-eight years with thirty years of that service dedicated to the House of Representatives; and
Whereas, she served with the South Carolina Highway Department for eight years prior to joining the staff of the House of Representatives; and
Whereas, in 1981, Ann Sanders was hired as an assistant bookkeeper for the House, and in 1988, she was promoted to assistant accounting manager; and
Whereas, having so diligently and selflessly worked in the Office of House Accounting and Benefits over so many years she worked under Speakers Ramon Schwartz, Bob Sheheen, David Wilkins, and Bobby Harrell and House Clerks Lois Shealy, Sandra McKinney, and Charles Reid; and
Whereas, beloved by her coworkers, Shirley Black, with whom she has worked alongside for thirty years, Karen Rucker, and Tona Quinton, she will also be greatly missed by the entire staff of the Blatt Building and the members of the House; and
Whereas, the members will most certainly recall her smiling face as she delivered their checks on the floor of the House, but she will be most remembered by all who were privileged to know her for her quiet, unassuming nature, enduring strength in the face of tragedy, strong faith, and the grace and dignity by which she did her job; and
Whereas, a member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Little Mountain, she is the devoted wife of James Sanders and together they raised two fine twin sons, Chris Sanders and the late Brad Sanders; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are proud to express their gratitude to Ann Bowers Sanders for her service to the State and particularly her dedication to this chamber over the last thirty years and wish her continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Ann Bowers Sanders, upon the occasion of her retirement, and commend her for her many years of faithful and dedicated service to the South Carolina House of Representatives and to the State, and to wish her much happiness in her well-earned retirement.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Ann Bowers Sanders.
