A house RESOLUTION

to congratulate American Honda Motor Co. Inc. South Carolina Manufacturing Division for producing the product that won the 2024 Coolest Thing Made in South Carolina contest by the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives values the economic presence of American Honda Motor Co. Inc. South Carolina Manufacturing Division in the Palmetto State and is pleased to learn that the Honda Talon was named the 2024 Coolest Thing Made in South Carolina; and

Whereas, American Honda Motor Co. Inc. South Carolina Manufacturing Division has won the 2024 Coolest Thing Made in South Carolina contest, which is organized by the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance; and

Whereas, Honda's side-by-side power sports vehicle, the Honda Talon, earned the title of the Coolest Thing Made in South Carolina after a two-month statewide contest that yielded more than two hundred thousand votes from the public and competed against one hundred sixty-six other products; and

Whereas, the Honda Talon 1000R-4 Fox Live Valve is manufactured by American Honda Motor Co. Inc. South Carolina Manufacturing Division in Timmonsville, and received the most votes in the final round of voting in the third annual Manufacturing Madness contest hosted by the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance; and

Whereas, American Honda Motor Co. Inc. South Carolina Manufacturing Division began operations in Timmonsville in 1998. As the global source for all Honda side-by-side vehicles, the facility has produced over three million power sports products over the last twenty-five years and employs one thousand highly skilled associates. The Honda Talon 1000R-4 Fox Live Valve is enjoyed by motocross and outdoor enthusiasts who want superior off-road performance and comfort; and

Whereas, Craig Orlan serves as the director of state and local relations at the plant in Timmonsville; Travis Lee is the plant manager; Debbie Deutschmann serves as the general counsel; Ron Freed is the manager of Honda Powersports strategy and planning; and Ashley Hopwood serves as the Honda South Carolina communications lead; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the American Honda Motor Co. Inc. South Carolina Manufacturing Division and the prosperity that the plant adds to our State and to our citizens who are employed at the plant and the enjoyment that the products produced there provide across the nation. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate American Honda Motor Co. Inc. South Carolina Manufacturing Division for producing the product that won the 2024 Coolest Thing Made in South Carolina contest by the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the president and CEO of American Honda Motor Co. Inc. and its South Carolina Manufacturing facility leadership.
