A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND MR. BHAKTI LARRY HOUGH FOR HIS SUPPORT IN IDENTIFYING AND PRESERVING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE STATE'S AFRICAN AMERICANS THROUGH SERVICE AS A CHARTER MEMBER OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE COMMISSION.

Whereas, those who give their lives to the betterment of their community deserve to be publicly recognized for their contributions in making the State as a whole a better place to live; and

Whereas, Mr. Bhakti Larry Hough is such a person, having devoted his life to uplifting and enlightening others about the contributions of African Americans to the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, he served the State of South Carolina as an educator, radio station manager, journalist, artist, and public relations business owner; and

Whereas, he is a native of South Carolina, the oldest of six children born to Glennie and Minnie Hough; and

Whereas, seeing his diligence, Governor Carroll Campbell appointed Mr. Bhakti Larry Hough to the South Carolina African American Heritage Commission, formerly the South Carolina African American Heritage Council, in March of 1993. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and commend Mr. Bhakti Larry Hough for his support in identifying and preserving the contributions of the state's African Americans through service as a charter member of the South Carolina African American Heritage Commission.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Bhakti Larry Hough.
