A house RESOLUTION

 

TO APPLAUD THE PELION MIDDLE SCHOOL ARCHERY TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM ON WINNING THE 2024 NATIONAL ARCHERY IN THE SCHOOLS PROGRAM and International Bowhunting ORGANIZATION's 3D NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN THE MIDDLE SCHOOL DIVISION.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is delighted to learn that the Pelion Middle School archery team captured the coveted crown in the Middle School Division at the 2024 National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) and International Bowhunting Organization's (IBO) 3D National Championship Tournament, held June 6-8, 2024, in Daytona Beach, Florida; and

 

Whereas, it was a satisfying victory for the Panthers: They claimed the national title with 1,705 points, setting a new school record and proving their mettle in combined events that included 2,970 archers from thirty-nine states. Further, team member Delilah Williams was an individual 3D award winner, taking home third place in the Middle School Division (Girls) with a score of 290; and

 

Whereas, additionally, the Pelion Middle Bullseye team placed third in the 2024 NASP National Bullseye Championship, Middle School Division, with a score of 3,319. In that event, team member Claire Hartley turned in a score of 290 and garnered fifth-place honors in the girls' competition as an individual Bullseye award winner; and

 

Whereas, the gifted coaches of the Pelion archers, Head Coach Larry Pool and his assistants, David Taylor and Maria Bolen, proudly watched as their fine athletes shot their way to the top and earned the right to titles and other awards only champions get to take home; and

 

Whereas, prior to the national championship, the Pelion archers attended the 2024 Eastern National Championship in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 11, 2024. There, they upheld their high reputation, finishing the competition as NASP/IBO 3D champions with a score of 1,702. The team also placed fifteenth in the 2024 NASP Eastern National Bullseye Tournament with a score of 3,292; and

 

Whereas, proud of these young athletes, the South Carolina House of Representatives takes great pleasure in celebrating the Pelion Middle archers, who have won respect and honor for their school and community through the excellence of their performance. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, applaud the Pelion Middle School archery team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and congratulate them on winning the 2024 National Archery in the Schools Program and International Bowhunting Organization's 3D National Championship title in the Middle School Division.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Jessica Keisler and Head Coach Larry Pool.
