A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE TAYLORMADE PRAISE DANCERS FOR THEIR ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE AND TO THANK THEM FOR THEIR MINISTRY OF COMFORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO MANY.

Whereas, in 2010, Karen Taylor Mims formed the TaylorMade Praise Dancers to celebrate the ninetieth birthday of her father, Johnnie Taylor, who was also the great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather to the dancers. The group originally consisted of thirteen dancers, Jessica Harris, Shelby Gadsden, Jakel Jones, Keiora Poinsett, Payton Lawson, Shaniya Taylor, Keojanae Mims, Talia Mims, Ta'Naijah Brown, Morgan Patterson, Vante'sia Taylor, Katheryne Patterson, and Patience Taylor; and

Whereas, on September 26, 2010, the TaylorMade Praise Warriors performed for the first time for God, their grandfather, and approximately four hundred others. What was to have been a one-night performance developed into a long-term ministry for the Lord; and

Whereas, God planted a seed in the hearts of these gifted young ladies, and they wanted to continue the ministry of dancing. The TaylorMade Praise Dancers were given the opportunity to perform for the twentieth-anniversary celebration of Pastor Eddie Doctor of End Time Ministry. In November 2010, the doors of the church were also opened to them, and they became the TaylorMade Praise Dancers of End Time Ministry of Jesus Christ. Jaiden Taylor and Victoria Doctor joined the ministry at that time; and

Whereas, Johnnie Taylor went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 19, 2011; however, his family will continue to minister to others as God grants favor; and

Whereas, for current dancers Keojanae Mims, Talia Mims, Ta'Naijah Brown, Morgan Patterson, and Shantanasia Whaley, God has opened many doors. They have ministered to numerous churches in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia, as well as in local stage plays, MOJO, Project Cool Breeze, the Homicide Support Group's annual Candlelight Vigil and Service of Remembrance, and other events; and

Whereas, the TaylorMade Praise Dance Ministry also participates in many Stop the Violence rallies in our community. They go into communities to uplift broken hearts, comfort families, and minister healing. They pray and dance against gun violence, domestic violence, bullying, and drugs, considering their ministry a way of giving back to the community and a means for healing our society; and

Whereas, grateful for their dedicated labors on behalf of the people of South Carolina, the South Carolina House of Representatives takes great pleasure in saluting the TaylorMade Praise Dancers on reaching their fifth year of fruitful ministry, and the members wish them all the best as they continue to bless and inspire many. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend the TaylorMade Praise Dancers for their artistic excellence and thank them for their ministry of comfort and encouragement to many.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to the TaylorMade Praise Dancers.
