| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Congratulating Jackie Evancho on her spectacular performances on |
2 | "America's Got Talent." |
3 | WHEREAS, Jackie Evancho's love of singing began after |
4 | watching "The Phantom of the Opera"; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Jackie soon began performing in local talent |
6 | competitions, sharing her gift with her community; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Jackie was asked to perform at many local public |
8 | venues, including singing "The National Anthem" at the 2010 |
9 | opening day ceremonies for the Pittsburgh Pirates; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Jackie's voice captivated audiences of all ages |
11 | enabling her to rise to fame by being voted onto the 2010 season |
12 | of "America's Got Talent" after hundreds of thousands of |
13 | Americans saw her video audition on the Internet; and |
14 | WHEREAS, She became America's sweetheart with the voice of an |
15 | angel; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Jackie soared higher and higher after each |
17 | spectacular performance on "America's Got Talent," continuing to |

1 | capture the hearts of the millions of viewers who tuned in; and |
2 | WHEREAS, In the finale, Jackie came in with the second |
3 | highest number of votes to winner Michael Grimm, a contemporary |
4 | singer/songwriter from Mississippi; and |
5 | WHEREAS, A ten-year-old singing sensation, Jackie's national |
6 | television debut and competition on "America's Got Talent" made |
7 | Pennsylvania proud; therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That the Senate congratulate Jackie Evancho on |
9 | making the final two on "America's Got Talent." |
