| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Congratulating the Pennsylvania Septage Management Association |
2 | on its 25th anniversary. |
3 | WHEREAS, Correct installation and maintenance of septic |
4 | systems is vital to the health and well-being of many of the |
5 | citizens of this Commonwealth; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Consumer safety is linked to the work of |
7 | credentialed professionals in the field of septage management; |
8 | and |
9 | WHEREAS, Members of the Pennsylvania Septage Management |
10 | Association have worked to educate consumers about the |
11 | importance of maintaining septic systems, and the perils of not |
12 | doing so, since its formal founding as the Pennsylvania Liquid |
13 | Waste Haulers Association; and |
14 | WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Septage Management Association |
15 | began working with The Pennsylvania State University in 1989 to |
16 | develop inspection training for the inspectors of on-lot |
17 | systems, which has become a national model, as well as |
18 | developing numerous other consumer-oriented flyers and |

1 | information pieces; and |
2 | WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Septage Management Association has |
3 | developed other programs, such as the National Vacuum Truck |
4 | Technicians Training Course and other formal training, for |
5 | septage workers in the field to learn best practices of the |
6 | industry and to promote sound environmentally sensitive |
7 | practices; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Recognizing limited public resources, the |
9 | Pennsylvania Septage Management Association has tried to assist |
10 | the Department of Environmental Protection as an active partner |
11 | to help it carry out its regulatory oversight duties; therefore |
12 | be it |
13 | RESOLVED, That the Senate congratulate the Pennsylvania |
14 | Septage Management Association on its 25th anniversary. |
