| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Commending the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Hunter-Trapper |
2 | Education course on the celebration of its 50th anniversary. |
3 | WHEREAS, In June 1958, a small group of game protectors |
4 | gathered at their training facility in Brockway for six days to |
5 | receive instruction from the National Rifle Association on |
6 | hunter safety and rifle marksmanship, thereby being the first |
7 | certified in the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Hunter-Trapper |
8 | Education course; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Since that time, more than 1.8 million students have |
10 | been certified in Hunter-Trapper Education, and today more than |
11 | 2,400 volunteer instructors are conducting nearly 800 classes |
12 | certifying about 3,400 students each year; and |
13 | WHEREAS, The Hunter-Trapper Education curriculum has been |
14 | carefully crafted to meet the national standards of the |
15 | International Hunter Education Association and is so well |
16 | designed that other states have requested permission to use it |
17 | when training their own students; and |
18 | WHEREAS, The Hunter-Trapper Education course has evolved |

2 | tomorrow's hunters not only safe, but also successful; therefore |
3 | be it |
4 | RESOLVED, That the Senate commend the Pennsylvania Game |
5 | Commission on the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the |
6 | Hunter-Trapper Education course. |
