A RESOLUTION

Recognizing May 10 through 16, 2009, as "National Women's Health

2

Week" in Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, Women are often the caregivers for their spouses,

4

children and parents and forget to focus on their own health;

5

and

6

WHEREAS, It is important to celebrate "National Women's

7

Health Week" to remind women that taking care of themselves is

8

essential to living longer, healthier and happier lives; and

9

WHEREAS, Research shows that when women take care of

10

themselves, the health of their family improves; and

11

WHEREAS, During "National Women's Health Week" it is

12

important to educate our wives, mothers, grandmothers,

13

daughters, sisters, aunts and girlfriends about the steps they

14

can take to improve their health and prevent disease; and

15

WHEREAS, "National Women's Health Week" empowers women to

16

make their health a top priority, and with the theme "It's Your

17

Time," the nationwide initiative encourages women to take simple

steps for a longer, healthier and happier life; therefore be it

2

RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize May 10 through 16, 2009,

3

as "National Women's Health Month" in Pennsylvania and encourage

4

communities, businesses, health organizations and other groups

5

to work together to educate women about steps they can take to

6

improve their physical and mental health and lower their risks

7

of contracting certain diseases.
