AN ACT

Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An

2

act relating to the public school system, including certain

3

provisions applicable as well to private and parochial

4

schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the

5

laws relating thereto," in reimbursements by Commonwealth and

6

between school districts, providing for growth supplement for

7

2011-2012 school year; and making an appropriation.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

9

hereby enacts as follows:

10

Section 1.  The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known

11

as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a

12

section to read:

Section 2502.50.  Growth Supplement for 2012-2013 School

14

Year.--(a)  For the 2012-2013 school year, a growth supplement

15

shall be paid to qualifying school districts as follows:

16

(1)  To qualify for the growth supplement, a school

17

district's 2009-2010 average daily membership must be greater

18

than its 2001-2002 average daily membership by three hundred

19

fifty (350) average daily members.

(2)  The growth supplement shall be calculated for qualifying

school districts as follows:

(i)  Subtract the school district's 2000-2001 average daily

3

membership from its 2008-2009 average daily membership.

4

(ii)  Multiply the difference from clause (i) by twenty

5

million dollars ($20,000,000).

6

(iii)  Divide the product from clause (ii) by the sum of the

7

differences from clause (i) for all qualifying school districts.

8

(b)  Payments to qualifying school districts shall be made no

9

later than September 15, 2010.

Section 2.  The sum of $20,000,000 is hereby appropriated to

11

the Department of Education for the purpose of the growth

12

supplement for the 2011-2012 school year provided by section

13

2502.50 of the act.

Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
