| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated |
2 | Statutes, in inspection of vehicles, further providing for |
3 | requirement for periodic inspection of vehicles. |
4 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
5 | hereby enacts as follows: |
6 | Section 1. Section 4702(a) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania |
7 | Consolidated Statutes is amended to read: |
8 | § 4702. Requirement for periodic inspection of vehicles. |
9 | (a) Annual safety inspection.-- |
10 | (1) Except as provided in subsection (b), the department |
11 | shall establish a system of annual safety inspection of |
12 | vehicles, including emergency vehicles, farm vehicles with a |
13 | gross weight or gross vehicle weight rating of greater than |
14 | 17,000 pounds for which a Type I biennial certificate of |
15 | exemption has been issued and private noncommercial vehicles |
16 | used to transport students. |
17 | (2) The system of annual safety inspection shall provide |
18 | that the certificate of inspection on a new vehicle shall |

1 | expire at the end of the 12th month following the expiration |
2 | of the initial registration of the vehicle by the consumer. |
