| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending the act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), entitled, |
2 | as amended, "An act relating to counties of the first, third, |
3 | fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth classes; amending, |
4 | revising, consolidating and changing the laws relating |
5 | thereto; relating to imposition of excise taxes by counties, |
6 | including authorizing imposition of an excise tax on the |
7 | rental of motor vehicles by counties of the first class; and |
8 | providing for regional renaissance initiatives," further |
9 | providing for requests for examinations and reports. |
10 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
11 | hereby enacts as follows: |
12 | Section 1. Section 1236.1 of the act of August 9, 1955 |
13 | (P.L.323, No.130), known as The County Code, added November 29, |
14 | 1990 (P.L.602, No.152), is amended to read: |
15 | Section 1236.1. Requests for Examinations and Reports.--(a) |
16 | Requests for examinations or other professional services by |
17 | other counties or persons may be complied with at the discretion |
18 | of the coroner pursuant to guidelines established by the county |
19 | commissioners. |
20 | (b) A set of fees and charges for such examinations or |
21 | professional services shall be established by the coroner, |

1 | subject to approval by the county commissioners, and shall be |
2 | accounted for and paid to the county treasurer pursuant to |
3 | section 1760. Payment for examinations or professional services |
4 | shall be the responsibility of the county or person requesting |
5 | such services. |
6 | (c) The coroner may charge and collect a fee of up to [one] |
7 | five hundred dollars [($100)] ($500) for each autopsy report, up |
8 | to [fifty] one hundred dollars [($50)] ($100) for each |
9 | toxicology report, up to [fifty] one hundred dollars [($50)] |
10 | ($100) for each inquisition or coroner's report and such other |
11 | fees as may be established from time to time for other reports |
12 | and documents requested by nongovernmental agencies. The fees |
13 | collected shall be accounted for and paid to the county |
14 | treasurer pursuant to section 1760 and shall be used to defray |
15 | the expenses involved in the county complying with the |
16 | provisions of the act of March 2, 1988 (P.L.108, No.22), |
17 | referred to as the Coroners' Education Board Law. |
18 | Section 2. This act shall take effect January 1, 2011. |
