| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated |
2 | Statutes, in registration of vehicles, providing for a |
3 | special registration plate for veterans and members of United |
4 | States military airborne units. |
5 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
6 | hereby enacts as follows: |
7 | Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated |
8 | Statutes is amended by adding a section to read: |
9 | § 1366. Special plates for United States military airborne |
10 | units. |
11 | (a) General rule.--Upon application of any person who is a |
12 | veteran of or a member of a United States military airborne |
13 | unit, accompanied by a fee of $20 which shall be in addition to |
14 | the annual registration fee and by such documentation as the |
15 | department shall require, the department shall issue to the |
16 | person a special registration plate designating the vehicle so |
17 | licensed as belonging to a person who is a veteran of or a |
18 | member of a United States military airborne unit. The special |
19 | registration plate may be used only on a passenger car or truck |

1 | with a registered gross weight of not more than 10,000 pounds. |
2 | The department shall design and produce the special registration |
3 | plate to display a set of jump wings and glider wings. |
4 | (b) Definition.--As used in this section, the term "veteran |
5 | of or a member of a United States military airborne unit" |
6 | includes parachutist or glider units, glider troopers, |
7 | paratroopers, air assault troopers, Rangers, U.S. Army Special |
8 | Forces, USMC Recon, U.S. Navy Seals, U.S. Air Force Special |
9 | Operations, Troop Carrier Command, including glider pilots and |
10 | the 160th SOAR, military personnel who satisfactorily completed |
11 | the prescribed proficiency tests while assigned or attached to |
12 | an airborne unit and any other military personnel determined by |
13 | the department to be appropriately classified as a member of a |
14 | United States military airborne parachutist or glider unit. |
15 | Section 2. This act shall take effect in 120 days. |
