A RESOLUTION

Recognizing May 5, 2011, as the "National Day of Prayer" in

Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, The "National Day of Prayer" is a day set aside to

4

pray for this nation; and

5

WHEREAS, The designated day, the first Thursday of May,

6

belongs to all citizens; and

7

WHEREAS, This annual event was not created for political

8

reasons or to promote any other agenda except prayer; and

9

WHEREAS, The "National Day of Prayer" is designed for prayer

10

for leaders, for communities, for families, for children and for

11

one another; and

WHEREAS, The "National Day of Prayer" is a day to ask for

2

healing, to heal this nation and to bring people together in

3

true unity; and

4

WHEREAS, Prayer is regarded by millions as the most important

5

utterance for the benefit of humankind; and

6

WHEREAS, This nation was founded by single-minded men and

7

women who sought wisdom through prayer; and

8

WHEREAS, Prayer has aided many people throughout the history

9

of this nation and this Commonwealth when support and guidance

10

were needed; therefore be it

11

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize May 5,

12

2011, as "National Day of Prayer" in Pennsylvania.
