| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Recognizing the IM ABLE Foundation and its founder, Chris Kaag, |
2 | for their efforts in encouraging people with disabilities to |
3 | live active lifestyles. |
4 | WHEREAS, In 2007, the IM ABLE Foundation was created to build |
5 | on the active lifestyles that founder Chris Kaag promotes for |
6 | individuals with disabilities; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Mr. Kaag, a disabled United States Marine who at 21 |
8 | years of age was diagnosed with adrenomyeloneuropathy (AMN), |
9 | focuses his efforts on activities and events that benefit both |
10 | the disabled and able-bodied communities; and |
11 | WHEREAS, The IM ABLE Foundation's goal is to help individuals |
12 | with disabilities find the physical fitness modality that meets |
13 | their needs; and |
14 | WHEREAS, With handcycles, racing chairs, adaptive skis and |
15 | other advancements in technology, it is possible for anyone who |
16 | has a disability to increase their fitness level; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Staying active benefits not only the body but also |
2 | the mind, and the IM ABLE Foundation endeavors to help disabled |
3 | individuals achieve the goal of physical and mental well-being; |
4 | and |
5 | WHEREAS, The mission of the IM ABLE Foundation is to enrich |
6 | lives through raising awareness about physical fitness |
7 | possibilities for disabled individuals and to encourage |
8 | individuals of all abilities to be more active; therefore be it |
9 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the IM |
10 | ABLE Foundation and its founder, Chris Kaag, for their efforts |
11 | in encouraging people with disabilities and others to live |
12 | active lifestyles. |
