A RESOLUTION

Honoring the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania on the

occasion of the 91st anniversary of its founding.

WHEREAS, The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania is the

4

organization where hands-on work to safeguard democracy leads to

5

civic improvement; and

6

WHEREAS, The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania is a

7

nonpartisan political organization that has fought since 1920 to

8

improve our system of government and impact public policies

9

through citizen education and advocacy; and

10

WHEREAS, The league members are constantly striving to serve

11

their communities to make strong, safe, fair and vibrant places

12

to live; and

13

WHEREAS, The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania believes

in representative government and in the individual liberties

2

established in the Constitution of the United States; and

3

WHEREAS, The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania has

4

always worked to promote the values and processes of

5

representative government; and

6

WHEREAS, The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania

7

collaborates with other organizations to achieve mutual goals,

8

increase civic participation, create lasting change in the

9

community and to make democracy work; and

10

WHEREAS, The league, for 91 years, has held the public trust

11

by respectfully bringing elected leaders and the public together

12

through nonpartisan, civil means and through thoughtfully

13

advancing solutions; and

14

WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has benefited tremendously from

15

the countless volunteer hours donated by league members over its

16

91-year history of enhancing our democracy; therefore be it

17

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the League

18

of Women Voters' 91st anniversary and urge all residents of

19

Pennsylvania to pay great tribute and respect to The League of

20

Women Voters of Pennsylvania for all they do to make our

21

community healthy, vibrant and strong.
