A RESOLUTION

Declaring February 2009 as "American Heart Month" in

Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death

4

for Pennsylvanians; and

5

WHEREAS, Stroke is the number one debilitator and number

6

three killer in America; and

7

WHEREAS, The American Heart Association is a national

8

voluntary health organization whose mission is to build

9

healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke; and

10

WHEREAS, The American Heart Association is instrumental in

11

educating the public and promoting cardiovascular disease

12

research and education; and

13

WHEREAS, The American Heart Association's impact goal is to

14

reduce coronary heart disease, stroke and risk by 25% by 2010;

15

therefore be it

16

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives declare February

17

2009 as "American Heart Month" in Pennsylvania and encourage all

18

citizens of this Commonwealth to seek education in prevention,

risk factors and symptoms of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
