INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, NOVEMBER 28, 2011
A RESOLUTION
Designating November 21, 2011, as "Blue Health Solutions Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The health and well-being of employees throughout
this Commonwealth are vital to a healthy and productive work
force and key to optimal personal performance, and the
Commonwealth applauds organizations that strive to educate
employees about living a longer and healthier life; and
WHEREAS, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
estimates more than 75% of health care costs are attributable to
chronic conditions, and about 133 million Americans, or nearly
one in two adults, live with at least one chronic illness; and
WHEREAS, Blue Health Solutions, the disease management and
wellness program offered by Blue Cross of Northeastern
Pennsylvania to its members in partnership with its affiliate,
AllOne Health Management Solutions, helps achieve improved
health outcomes through the use of health coaches and

personalized health management plans reflecting specific chronic
conditions and wellness goals; and
WHEREAS, Blue Health Solutions has been awarded the "Best
Valid Care Management Outcomes" in this Commonwealth by the
Disease Management Purchasing Consortium International, Inc., a
national leader in evaluating the outcome of disease and
population management programs; and
WHEREAS, Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania and AllOne
Health Management Solutions were highlighted in the 2011 book
Disease Management and Wellness in the Post-Reform Era for
effectiveness in integrating multiple data sources in a timely
way to identify the most appropriate candidates for disease
management, both more specifically and more expeditiously;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate and
applaud organizations, such as Blue Cross of Northeastern
Pennsylvania and AllOne Health Management Solutions, that
promote healthy workplace initiatives through disease management
and wellness programs such as Blue Health Solutions; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate and
applaud the individuals who participate in wellness programs,
demonstrating a responsibility to maintain a healthy lifestyle
and embark on a course to effectively manage chronic diseases;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate
November 21, 2011, as "Blue Health Solutions Day" in
Pennsylvania.
